British singer-songwriter Rhoderic Land lives and works in Paris where he recorded his first version of "Land of the living" in 2008.
In 2013 Land was introduced to New York producer and engineer, George Walker Petit, and began a collaboration towards a jazz-textured interpretation of the songs.

The resulting tracks were recorded at the Clubhouse Studio, Rhinebeck NY, in July and November 2014 with noted New York musicians Matthew Fries (Piano), Mark Dodge (drums), and Thomson Kneeland (bass), with GWP producing, engineering and mixing.

The album includes new recordings of most of the original 'Land of the Living' collection, and four new pieces; 'Tell me when it's over', 'Secret', 'Chop a little wood', and the title track 'Land of the Living'. The arrangements are reduced to their essentials, highlighting Land's distinctive voice and lyrics.

The result is a collection of unflinchingly intimate songs with a wry twist and one gorilla.
